Chocolution Chocolate Workshops at Kew Gardens
As part of their Maya Chocolate trail over Easter we gave 5 chocolate workshops a day for two weeks to children and parents at Kew Gardens all about the history and wonders of chocolate.
We gave everyone a large chocolate medallion to decorate throughout the workshop and at the end (before scoffing the whole thing!) everyone held their chocolate up to the sky as an offering to Ykchaua, the Mayan god of chocolate!
Everyone had loads of fun and learnt more about one of our favourite treats!
As well as teaching the nearly 4000 year history of Chocolate, we pointed out the importance for all of us to make a positive impact for everyone involved in the cocoa industry. There have been some real terrible treatment of people and even children in the production of cocoa and we have to remember it is up to all of us to choose Fair Trade and to build a better future for the food of the gods, Theobroma Cacao!
